Hidden Growth
Year
2022
Materials
Spray foam, cardboard, tacky glue, and yarn
Description
Exhibited above the art floor stairwell in my high school, Hidden Growth appears as growing mold germinating from the walls. Creating the piece, I observed the relationship between decomposition and growth. While mold represents abandonment and decay, it also holds its own peculiar beauty, carrying a message of growth and new life. I used spray foam on cardboard bases to create three dimensional shapes, then glued hand-cut wool yarn to cover each form.
